DH! I am so happy you’re seeing those towns! Just be careful- they are

Cartel towns- Cartel owns them. If you’re on a cruise, did they let you off for just the daytime? Was it a day show or night show with the torches? I’m thinking you’re close to La Quebrada which is the cliff diving,
if you’re still there on the west side of the bay. If you are interested in getting around, the outdoor markets are just north of the cruise terminal zone. If you want to hang out at an amazing hotel during the day, go to the Mayan Palace on the south side of the city. I think you can sneak in and not have to pay, but it’s incredible. Just ask how much for a taxi to go to the Costco (I think it’s permanently closed) or the Walmart out past Las Brisas to the south- it’s in the Diamanté beach hotel district off the highway right between those locations, but anyone should know. Don’t go north or northeast of downtown. Not a safe, touristy area. The open air markets north of the cruise terminal zone are safe for tourists. The outdoor vendor food was always safe too.

If you know where you’re going next, let me know and I might be able to send some recommendations if you’re interested. Have fun!!
